Words cannot describe capture how much Kelly has impacted my life. She’s an incredibly skilled flute teacher with such a wide breadth of knowledge, and beyond that she’s been an amazing mentor. She has supported me through so many big moments: self-doubt, career changes, even moving to a new country alone. She’s kind, caring, generous with her time, and she believes in me even when I don’t believe in myself.
She is also tough in the best possible way. She’s pushed me harder than any flute teacher I’ve ever had, and I’ve improved more quickly and efficiently than I thought was possible. She knew exactly which habits needed to be fixed and how to fix them. My playing skyrocketed so much in just over six months that a friend asked me, “Did you stop time and practice for a year?”
I always feel like Kelly has my back, not just musically but in life. When I’m full of self-doubt or unsure of what’s next, she shows up with so much patience, kindness, and clarity. I honestly feel like I won the lottery meeting Kelly. My life has been changed forever because of her.

Kelly teaches the flute with so much empathy and patience and really takes the time to adapt her teaching style and speed to each child. Having seen and experienced a number of music teachers for my kids, Kelly really stands out as the most personality-focussed teacher I have ever met. Our daughter started with Kelly when she was three and Kelly was part of her childhood and guided her through puberty until graduation last year. Having Kelly at her side during her teenage years was so valuable - the music, the focus, the moments of personal success in a recital or at the end of a learning cycle, but also having Kelly as a tutor, role model, mentor and friend. As parents, we couldn’t have wished for more. The two of them are still in touch now, long after our daughter moved away to study! The Suzuki method and the way Kelly applies it to her studio (offering additional group lessons, for example) ensured that our daughter not only learned the flute and the repertoire, but also learned music theory from very early on, in a playful and age-appropriate manner. This gave her an understanding for rhythm and theory that were so useful as the pieces became more demanding, long before she learned these concepts at school. An understanding and skill that other kids her age were often missing, we found.

Kelly is the kind of supportive, encouraging and enthusiastic teacher that can have a lifetime impact on a student’s positive self- worth and achievements. The structured Suzuki method encourages students to learn step-by-step and rewards them with regular recitals with group and individual pieces as well as book recitals where they even earn a trophy! My daughter has always felt supported and encouraged to try her best and push to a new level with flute. She also feels like she can share her feelings and concerns openly with Kelly. In short, Kelly is the teacher and role model to guide your child’s development and musical career!

My daughter has played flute with Kelly since she was 3 and is very close with the kids her age in the studio. It's kind of like they grew up together. Having the chance to play at recitals and seasonal concerts has been great for my child's development, as has the focus on individual progress and playing with others. As a parent it has been fun to be part of the Suzuki voyage -- from the early days that began with spitting rice -- to where we are now at the end of Book 3. As someone who really feels the music she teaches, Kelly's playful and creative approach has been and continues to be very motivating and effective.
